We are very excited to welcome Jamala Wallace to the NY4P team! Learn about Jamala, in her own words:
I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri where I studied Political Science motivated by the political activism of my family and namesake who co-founded Organization for Black Struggle (OBS). I moved to New York in 2016 and graduated with a MS in Public and Urban Policy at The New School in 2018. Prior to working at NY4P I had been a Measure of America Research intern at the Social Science Research Council helping them launch their interactive data2goHealth map and their Human Development Index report.
As NY4P’s Research & Policy Analyst, I will be working closely with Lucy, the Director of Research & Policy on a variety of research projects. I am currently working on completing the Open Space Index reports for three neighborhoods that had been designated for rezoning. I am most excited about getting started on the District Profiles, which will be undergoing some new changes this year.
My dream park or open space would be the same as my grandma’s backyard. It would have enough tulips in the spring to share and a withering peach tree in the center that would produce sweet fruit every year.
