On Tuesday, March 27th New Yorkers will have the opportunity to speak directly to New York City council members and weigh in on what needs to be included in the city parks budget.
The City Council Committee on Parks and Recreation is holding a public hearing on the city parks budget for fiscal year 2019. The hearing begins at 1:00pm with testimony from the NYC Parks Department, and anyone can attend. Public testimony begins at 4:00.
Presenting in-person or written testimony at a City Council hearing is one of the most powerful tools we have for influencing city government and policy.
Is this your first time giving testimony? Our webinar “Going on the Record” (below) covers everything you need to know, from how to check in, how long to speak, to guidance on how to craft your messaging.
To learn more about the city budget process read this article from 2017. Please note that while the testimony dates are not current, the budget process and general timeline has not changed.
