On the campaign trail, Eric Adams pledged to allocate 1% of the city's budget to fund the parks department.
However, early indications from this year's budget shows that number falling short, and also a $50 million dollar cut to funding overall.
A new report by the advocacy group New Yorkers for Parks shows that raising parks funding would lead to safer and cleaner parks, while also doubling the amount of free public programming.
Adam Ganser, the executive director of New Yorkers for Parks, joined Errol Louis on "Inside City Hall" Tuesday to discuss the report.
The report also points to city parks receiving a significantly smaller allocation of funding in comparison to parks departments in other major cities like Los Angeles and Chicago.
