Pop-up biergarten serves only beers made in the five boroughs

New York City’s craft beer scene has gotten so big that you could spend entire weekends in each borough and not drink your way through all of its many breweries.
Though true beer lovers should certainly endeavor to check off all of the nearly 40 breweries within city limits, you can get a taste of 15 of them at Brookfield Place, whose palm tree-lined Winter Garden will transform into a classic biergarten on Thursdays beginning Feb. 22 through March 15.
Each night from 4-9 p.m., the taps will flow with five local beers, each brewed in one of the city’s five boroughs from Rockaway Brewing Co. in Queens to Harlem Brewing Company.
This isn’t just a one-stop overview of the city’s beer scene. Each visitor will be asked to cast a vote in the 5 Borough Challenge: Best Brews of NYC contest, with the five winning breweries being invited back during the final week of the biergarten.
Entry to the event is free, with beer and food from Le District food hall and Brookfield Place restaurants available for purchase. Because it’s not a biergarten without entertainment, live music and bar games will also be on hand, and proceeds will benefit New Yorkers for Parks.
