LIVINGSTON — Snug Harbor Cultural Center's CEO, Lynn Kelly, will step down from her post to serve as executive director of a parks advocacy group.
Kelly was chosen by the board of directors as the new head of New Yorkers for Parks (NY4P), replacing outgoing Executive DirectorTupper Thomas who announced her retirement earlier this year, the group said.
"This opportunity allows me to use my varied experiences, skills and networks to build a stronger case for parks and open space," Kelly said in a statement.
"Parks and open space are essential urban infrastructure and we have to start talking about this issue through that lens, including health, economic development and social justice."
Kelly served as CEO of Snug Harbor since 2010 —recently helping save the facility by pushing the city to increase it's baseline funding and working on a multi-year plan to ease the site's money issues — and previously worked as a senior vice president for the New York City Economic Development Corporation for ten years.
She'll start her now job at NY4P on Dec. 1, the group said.
